When people think of clothing labels, very often they think of the label used by their favorite designer or manufacturer. These labels are often made in huge numbers and in the case of mass produced clothing may even be made in the company's own plants. However, the craftsman who only makes a few hundred pieces a year of unique clothing simply doesn't need the numbers required by a mass production plant and parents who merely want to label their child's clothing for summer camp need only a few.

A craftsman who produces only several hundred dresses, coats, sweaters or whatever a year needs a limited number of unique clothing labels compared to a brand name jean's manufacturer. The craftsman may have a more difficult time locating the labels they need since the numbers they require are so relatively small. The parent who needs only twenty or so still needs labels which will stay so their child's clothing is clearly identified.

A flexible small job lot label company might well be able to produce labels perfect for the craftsman and supply the parent with labels for their child's clothing as well. Labeling a child's clothing before sending them off to school or away to camp is essential especially if they are using group laundry facilities. T-shirts or socks that are not labeled are almost guaranteed not to return with the child.

Some parents use iron or labels or transfers to imprint their child's names or initials on articles of clothing. The positive side of these iron on transfers is that they are quick and easy and some can be customized by the parent. On the other hand, these labels are rarely as discrete or tasteful as a sewn on label and may be prone to peeling off or fading away.

Craftsmen making smaller numbers of clothing items may require a sewn on label as they have invested a lot of time usually in making a quality item and want to brand the clothing they make. For those purposes a woven or printed cloth label is idea. The printed label option is slightly more affordable but perhaps less durable than the woven label.

Woven labels are often more attractive and may well fade less over time than printed labels. In addition woven labels often last far longer than printed. When choosing a label to represent the brand name of a company the type of label, how well it is made and how good it looks does matter and once a brand becomes known the label may sell the clothing based just on the name.

The right label supplier is important to the craftsman because they need affordable quality labels. A flexible company which can supply the smaller numbers at a reasonable price is normally desirable for individuals who need minimal numbers of quality made labels. The same applies to parents who need tasteful labels for their child's clothing, it should be long lasting, affordable and above all tasteful.
